Nathaniel Borrell Dyer
Founder and Executive Director of Atlennium
Speech to the Graduating Class of the Leadership Institute 2006
“Going Against All Odds For Our Young People” represents a lifetime commitment to our future according to visionary Nathaniel Borrell Dyer. With the signs of total disenfranchisement of our Black youth on the horizon, the community must be consistent in cultivating young minds to achieve their full potential of success. This success comes through being a powerful and unified people with a high level of credibility.
"After being a volunteer to many youth organizations and various schools, I found that most were inadequate in meeting the needs of Black youth. The focus was usually misguided and the approach was lackluster. If I can see it, the youth can definitely feel it. The best solution was to create a movement that would not compromise the future of these young minds and have their best interest at heart and soul. I wanted to create a place that Black youth could call their own. A place where passion and dedication becomes infectious. A place that builds confidence from within and the know-how to even the odds. This is my calling. For all of these reasons and more, I bring to our future people and our communities — ATLENNIUM, Inc.," states Dyer.
